Mermaid Hair

22 December 2014

As some you may remember I dyed my hair pink/purple in September. I loved it so much but was too lazy and poor to do any up keep on it. However it did fade to a lovely pale pink and I was still getting compliments on it on Friday, nearly 3 months later.

This time I decided to go one better and pick up a turquoise dye too. I could not contain my excitement. I used the Schwarzkopf Live Colour XXL Ultra Brights in Purple Punk, Shocking Pink and Turquoise temptation which are currently on 2 for £7.50 in Boots & Superdrug. I think my favourite of all the colours is the pink but I adore how they all work together.

I feel like a mermaid although my hairdresser says its My Little Pony hair. I think next time I might try the Electric blue as well and see what happens. I am a huge fan of mutli coloured hair and I feel amazing when I go out in public. I got so many compliments on it on Monday and children seem to think I'm magical.

What do you think?
Are you a fan of multi coloured hair?

The Few Good Things About Winter

20 December 2014

If there was an award for most sporadic blogger I would totally win. I'm trying to do better but I'm not really an organised person so you'll just have to take me or leave me and never actually know when I'm gonna post. I'm just soo busy being awesome and living my hectic life (Binge watching criminal minds and chain drinking coffee in a pile of blankets). Anyways onto my post.

If you follow me on twitter you will know that I hate Winter. Me & winter are just not meant to be. I hate being cold and it makes my joints go crazy.

So to stop me being a Mr grumpy gills about this stupid cold weather I thought I'd write down the very few things about winter that I don't mind like being able to get some photos like this one

1. It's acceptable to wear fluffy socks with every outfit.

2. Capes are in this year so I can go out in a wearable blanket and still be fashionable

3. I can drink all the hot drinks without my body overheating

4. Winter food is pretty good. Mashed potato, stews, gravy etc

5. I can rock a beanie instead of doing my hair

6. Dark nail polish

7. Scarves

8. It is perfectly acceptable to stay in all day in a blanket cocoon and watch films because it's raining anyway so you're not wasting precious sun

9. Don't have to shave your legs

10. I can wear all my cute jumpers and oversized hoodies

11. Did I mention fluffy socks

12. The sea is amazing when it's stormy and raining

13. It gets dark earlier so I don't feel guilty about going to bed

14. Curling up with a good book, a cuppa whilst listening to the rain

And that's about all I can think off. I'll be here counting down the days until summer. Let me know what you love about winter?

Wilko Passion Fruit & Melon Body Scrub

17 December 2014

I got way too excited when I saw the new extremely colourful and affordable Fruits range in Wilkinsons. My mum bought a Passion fruit & melon body scrub that was supposed to go in my stocking but I desperately needed some so she gave in & let me have it early (#Spoilt).

I was a tad disappointed by it but I have an issue with liking my body scrubs to be like sand paper and I don't think anything will ever beat my favourite Sanctuary Spa Hot Sugar Scrub which I'm desperately hoping Santa will bring me again.

Apart from this scrubs lack of scrub I liked everything else about it. Its nice and moisturising and feels great on the skin and washes off nicely with no oily residue that some scrubs tend to leave. It also smells delicious...like edible delicious. I also smelled the pink one which smells exactly like rhubarb & custard sweets, I'm not sure whether it would make me drool a bit though if I smelt like sweets during the day. Plus its an amazing colour and the lid is easy to open which is kinda essential.

I have a sneaky suspicion (I was there when Santa was shopping) that I am getting some more of this range for Christmas so expect a bigger more in depth review at a later date.

If you are looking for some smellies for last minute Christmas pressies then head to wilkinsons as the range consists of

- Shampoo
-Conditioner
-Shower Gel
- Body Scrub
- Bath foam
- Bath Bomb
- Soap
- Hand Cream
- Body Butter
- Face Masks
- Lip Balm

with a massive choice of scents

- Coconut & Vanilla
- Lime & Ginger
- Blueberry & Grape
- Lemon & Black Pepper
- Strawberry & Pomegranate
- Passion Fruit & Melon
- Orange & Pomelo
- Rhubarb & Vanilla

And even better they are all £1.50 and are currently 3 for 2.

Have you tried this range?

Montagne Jeunesse Glacial Clay Spa Face Mask

11 December 2014

My skin has been horrific recently due to a massive flare up so when I was offered the chance to try a Montagne Jeunesse Face Mask I jumped at the chance. I chose the Glacial Clay Spa mask* and eagerly waited for it to arrive.

This face mask is a clay infused bamboo fabric which feels amazing on your skin. You look a bit like you should be in a horror movie but this just adds to the experience and requires lots of selfies and snapchats to be taken although it is impossible to smile.

They say - Feel the natural rush of cooling Glacial Clay cleanse your pores to the core. Anti-oxidant rich Red Grape and Arctic Cloudberry juices from the glacial heights of Scandinavia work their magic to help maintain skins natural barrier.

The cooling effect of this mask was amazing and felt great on my skin after a rough day helping me to relax. If you have bad arms/hands or suffering from really bad fatigue but still want to pamper yourself then this is the face mask for you. You just pull it out the packet and place it on your face leave it for 10 mins, massage it a bit and then rinse.

My skin felt so soft & much brighter after this and as I said the cooling effect is so nice. At only £1.49 these are a cheap way to treat yourself when you feel like crap.

Have you tried any of these face masks?

What are your favourite things to do when you're feeling rough?

The Christmas Tag

25 November 2014

I was tagged by the gorgeous Poppy to do the Christmas tag. Im really not feeling Christmassy at all yet but as it's only a month until the Big day heres hoping this puts me in the mood.

1. What is your favourite Christmas movie?
Ooh this is a tough one. There are so many amazing Christmas movies. I think its between The Grinch, Home Alone (1st one obvs) and The Santa Clause movie.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Morning?
Morning. Me and my brother still go and sit on my mum & dads bed to open our stockings and then we go downstairs together and my brother gets super impatient whilst my dad makes coffee before we open our main present.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
My first Christmas at uni was awesome. We went all out. We had the tree up from like beginning of November and had a massive flat dinner with all the trimmings and christmas music playing all day.

We stayed in a premier inn last year because my dad was working (He works away) and opened our stockings on Christmas morning after an epic breakfast much to my brothers disgust. We then went for Christmas dinner in a fancy hotel so none of us had to cook or wash up. On boxing day when my dad wasn't working we went to the mall and got to choose our own main present in the sales. It was a pretty awesome Christmas.

4. Favourite festival food?
There is so much amazing food around at Christmas I cant even choose but chocolate oranges are epic although I've had to give up chocolate this year because it makes me feel too ill *cries*

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
I got a pony when I was younger and although technically I got her before Christmas it was the best christmas present ever. Also when my Grandad died he left his car to me which I didn't know and my Grandma gave it to me for Christmas which made me cry.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Mulled wine. My parents are mad for it so the house constantly smells like it in the lead up to Christmas.

7. What tops your tree?
It used to be a really hideous tinsel star thing but I think it finally got broken so on the look out for something pretty.

8. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Eat delicious food in front of a Christmas film with the fire lit (over heat and complain its too hot) and my brother normally tries to get us to go to bed stupidly early. You would have thought at 15 he'd have grown out of it by now

9. As a kid, what was one crazy present that you wished for, but never received?
I honestly can't actually think of anything. I must be pretty spoilt. I do have amazing parents though.

10. What's the best part of Christmas for you?
Spending time with my family, all the amazing food that comes out. For me the build up is always the best bit. I also love all the lights. Theyre so pretty.

I tag everyone who wants to give this a go and remember to send me the links to help me get in the Christmas mood

Essence Express Dry Spray

19 November 2014

If you are as impatient as me and cannot wait for your nails to dry and then end up smudging them or getting the dreaded duvet print because you did them too late then read on, this is the product for you.

I was in Wilkinsons spending a fortune on things I didn't need when I spotted the Essence stand. Having bought some Essence makeup when I was in Germany last year and loving it I thought I'd buy some more things. That was when I spotted this magic in a can. An aerosol express dry spray. I've tried drops but I didn't really get on with them but this, this is love.

This magical little spray dries nails quicker and adds shine for only £2.50. It even smells pretty good and it comes in an awesome coloured can fit for a mermaid. Just paint your nails wait 30 secs and then spray and then they're kinda touch dry which means you don't have to wait as long before you can finally pee (because bladders are evil & wait until we have wet nails & then attack). I used it in my striping tape nail art to speed up the process as well.

What's your favourite from the essence range?

Striping Tape Nail Art

17 November 2014

A while ago I did a post on some Makeup Rumours items. Ages ago I did a nail look using the striping tape* and the nail polish* I picked and I loved it. I meant to redo it because these pictures are really bad quality from my phone but I haven't had time.

Whilst doing this I discovered that I really need to work on my patience. I was definitely not made for slightly fiddly things but the outcome was worth it.

I even have a matching Loom band bracelet and it matches my hair

You will need
- Striping Tape
- Light colour for the base - I used Barry M coconut
- Whatever colours you want the top to be - I used Barry M Pink Punch and Makeup Rumours Shade 41*
- Tweezers
- Nail scissors or some other small scissors
- Some patience

1. Paint on your chosen base coat or don't I'm not your boss.
2. Whack on a coat of the lighter colour you chose. I think I actually did 2 coats
3. Wait for it to dry. I used essence quick dry spray to speed up the process
4. Cut and Place your striping tape on any pattern you want & remember which order you put them on as you'll need to take them off in the opposite order to prevent smudging.
5. Paint your chosen colour over the top
6. Use your tweezers to peel off the tape carefully.
7. Leave to dry a tad before whacking on a top coat so you don't smudge it
8. Go wave your awesome nails in everyone's faces and make them tell you how cool they are

What do you think?

Sunday Smiles

16 November 2014

I've been feeling pretty crappy this week and I think I've got some sort of virus/bug thing going on which is kicking my ass so I thought I'd write down the things that have made me smile to cheer me up.

1. Costa Brownie Hot chocolate. It was delicious and definitely needed. Really want to try the Orange hot chocolate next

2.  Saturday was spent napping and watching Disney films in my pillow nest and it was amazing.

3. Me and a friend had the genius idea to use up the watermelon we had by making watermelon vodka smoothies. Best idea ever.

4. I got 13 hours sleep 2 nights this week. Must be ill but it was good to actually sleep.

5. We had sausage sandwiches for breakfast on Saturday. Best breakfast ever

6. My mum sent me loads of snapchats of my drunk brother & dad and it was hilarious

7. It's Beanie weather again so I don't have to make an effort with my hair

What made you smile this week?

Orphan
This film was soo so much better than I expected. Definitely in my top horror/thriller films. Looking at the cover I expected it to be a possessed child but it was so much better than that. This is such a tense film while Kate tries to convince her husband something isn't right with the 9yr old girl they adopt but no one believes her. There is something evil about her but she's so convincing as an angelic child when she wants to be. Kate has to try and convince everyone that she's evil before it's too late. I also adore the little girl max, she's such a cutie. Definitely recommend if you love a good thriller.

Ru Pauls Drag Race
I've seen people raving about this everywhere and when I couldn't sleep the other night and needed distracting I decided to give it a go and oh my god I love it. These drag queens are so fabulous and it's soo much better than Americas Next Top Model.

Just Go With It
I've seen this before but needed a chick flick I didn't need to concentrate on when I couldn't sleep. I love Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. Danny pretends to be married to get laid but then he falls for the girl of his dreams and tells her that his assistant (Jen) is his soon to be ex wife. He then ends up creating even more lies and getting himself into trouble. Its typical chick flick with a predictable ending but it's so funny, the kids in it make me laugh and watching them try to keep up with the lies is amusing bordering on cringey, Also Jen has a banging body and I'm stupidly jealous.

Maleficent
I've seen some people hate this and others love it and I am definitely in the love it category. I adored this film. Angelina Jolie looked A-Mazing and I loved the story. Seeing a different side of the story and finding out why Maleficent was so bad ass was awesome. I know a lot of people wanted her to be bad just because she was evil but I preferred this story. I wasn't a massive fan of the 3 faeries though. They stupidity kinda annoyed me.

Bounty Hunter
Another Jennifer Aniston film with the added bonus of Gerald Butler. Milo is a bounty hunter who gets a call to bring in his ex wife which makes his day. She's a reporter on the brink of a huge story though so soon shakes him off chasing a lead with him chasing her until they both end up running for their lives. This is romance, comedy and action rolled into one and I love it.

The Originals
I loved the Vampire Diaries but I dunno I've kinda gone off it a bot at the moment but I loved Klaus and his siblings so when I saw this on Netflix I thought I'd give it a go. I think I may actually love this more than TVD. I love Hayley and all the sibling rivalry and as usual there's lots of drama, betrayal and tension between the vampires and everyone else. Klaus tries to hide his softer side. Marcel is rather attractive and Rebekah is a bad ass as usual.

What have you been watching recently?

The Christmas edit: 10 of the best stocking filler

14 November 2014

Today I have a guest post from the lovely people over at Montagne Jeunesse giving you some ideas for stocking fillers.

Buying the big presents is never the problem. If your family are anything like ours, they’ll have been dropping B52 sized hints since mid-September regarding their ‘main’ presents. But nobody likes to get just one gift on Christmas, and so we are tasked with sourcing a multitude of inexpensive, innovative and inspired little gifts as make-weights or ‘stocking fillers’.
If you’re stuck for ideas for those little bits and pieces, here are our pick of 10 of the best stocking fillers around for Christmas 2014.

1.       John Lewis Rudolph Socks: Yes, socks are a bit of a cliché when it comes to Christmas, but how could you possibly resist the particularly adorable festive footwear from John Lewis in your stocking? Cosy, cute and with the most charming little Rudolph applique at the toes, these are the ideal gift for the lady in your life.

2.       Mr Stanley’s Giant Chocolate Penny: Chocolate coins are a staple of any stocking, but to shake things up a bit this year, how about a giant sized chocolate penny for your thoughts? Containing no less than 100g of quality milk chocolate, this has to be the best way to start Christmas morning ever.

3.       Dirt and Grime Clean Facemask: Here’s a little secret: Men like facemasks too. It’s true, and this male orientated, self-warming facemask is just the ticket to spice up your fellers stocking. With cinnamon to invigorate and ginger to nourish, your man will be smooth and sensual before you know it.

4.       Smart Glove: What’s worse than going out on a chilly winter’s morning and realising you’ve forgotten your gloves? Probably going out on a chilly winter’s morning with your hands toasty warm inside your gloves, and then realising you have to remove said gloves in order to check for emails on your phone. These handy ‘smart gloves’ are woven with special conductive material at the fingertips, making it possible to use your smartphone screen without ever exposing your delicate hands to the elements. Perfect.

5.       Hangover kit: Know someone who likes to party just a little too much? Then get them an all in one hangover kit, available from Prezzybox. Everything they need to freshen up the morning after is included in the kit, such as toothpaste, an eye mask, a glucose tablet and even a sachet of coffee.

6.       Slingshot gliders: Everyone remembers the cheap polystyrene planes often given to us as kids. Nine times out of ten the wings would break during assembly, and if you made it through that part unscathed, they’d usually just nose dive into the ground on first flight anyway. Well, Hawkins Bazaar have gone one better for this Christmas, with super sturdy, slingshot powered glider planes for just £1. If you’ve got a child to buy for (or a big kid), you can’t go wrong with these high powered planes in their stocking.

7.       Road rage swearing punch ball: If you’ve got a stress head in your life, get them a bit of anger management with this road rage swearing punch ball. Whether it’s an old lady dawdling, a lorry cutting them up or a stack of traffic on the motorway, this punch ball ensures they release their temper in the safe confines of their own car. Stick the punch ball onto the windscreen and listen to it swear and curse at the idiots on the road to keep the driver calm and collected.

8.       Pass the Pigs: Remember Pass the Pigs? No? Well if you’re a PTP newbie, then let us tell you this is potentially the best purchase you will make this Crimbo. Ridiculously stupid yet strangely addictive and cutthroat competitive, your whole family will soon be yelling “Get IN! Double snouter, yes!”

9.       Mushroom Salt and Pepper Shakers: Silly presents not your thing? Need to find something for a more mature and sensible person in your life? These gorgeous little Cath Kidston salt and pepper pots might be just the thing. Quirky, classy and with a respectable designer name to them… and all for under £20.

10.   Jack Daniels flavoured fudge: Do you like whisky? Do you like fudge? Then you’ll love this Jack Daniels whisky flavoured fudge! Perfect for booze lovers and those with a sweet tooth alike, and at only £6 from BHS it won’t break your budget either.

Hopefully these top 10 stocking fillers from Montagne Jeunesse have inspired you for your own Christmas shopping this year. Don’t feel stressed about stocking fillers. If all else fails, there’s always the chocolate orange.

Book// Stalkers by Paul Finch

11 November 2014

Kindle or Paperback

First up this book is not for you if you don't like crime books and also trigger warning for rape.

"All he had to do was name the woman he wanted. It was that easy. They would do all the hard work."
Detective Sergeant Mark 'Heck' Heckenburg is investigating the disappearance of 38 different women. Each one was happy and successful until they vanished without a trace. Desperate to find her missing sister, Lauren Wraxford seeks out Heck’s help. Together they enter a seedy underworld of gangsters and organised crime. But when they hear rumours about the so-called 'Nice Guys Club' they hit a brick wall. They're the gang that no one will talk about. Because the Nice Guys can arrange anything you want. Provided you pay the price…
Dark, terrifying and unforgettable. Stalkers will keep fans of Stuart MacBride and Katia Lief looking over their shoulder.

I loved this book. Couldn't put it down and read it in 2 days. I've read so many crime, police detective books that I thought I'd found my favourite crime novel authors but Paul Finch is definitely being added to the top of the list & I've already ordered the next book in the series. He writes brilliantly and kept me interested throughout the whole book.

In this book Heck is working on 38 cases that he is convinced are related but no one else agrees, until he gets a lead. With the help of one of the missing girls sister they try and hunt down the Nice Guys club. But its a lot more dangerous than they expect, with the most dangerous gang in England and a hit man after them, they're on their own .

This book is full of action from the beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat plus the ending even made me tear up a bit. I would highly recommend it if you are a fan of high action crime novels and there are 3 more in the series to keep you going.

Have you read any of Paul's books?

Bad Beauty Habits

5 November 2014

As I picked all my nail varnish off the other day I thought I should probably do a bad beauty habits post. Maybe it will help me stop...but probably not

I dont even know what this photo is but I found it on my phone & the face seemed to fit

1. As mentioned at the start, I pick my nail varnish. I can pick a whole manicure off once I start. Saves on nail polish remover but ruins my nails. Also doesn't help my already flaky nail

2. I'm really lazy at cleaning my brushes. I don't even use that many and I still put off doing it for wayy longer than is good for my face.

3. I use makeup for longer than I should. I only chuck it out if I react to it which has only happened twice.

4. I brush my hair when it's wet. In fact this is probably the only time I brush it and I know its super bad for it.

5. I pop spots. Its gross and bad but I can't resist it. I'm also terrible for trying to pop them too early

6. I sleep in my makeup occasionally if Im super tired. Im getting better at taking it off but Im probably still going to bblogger hell

7. Cleansing. I do take my makeup off most nights with a micellar water but I only use an actual cleanser when I remember.

What are your bad habits?

My Halloween Face

2 November 2014

Once again I've been really bad at posting, I'm sorry. Life just got in the way. I mean how rude.

For Halloween this year my brother came up to stay with me in Uni and me and a few friends painted our faces, looked freakin awesome and stayed in, took a billion selfies and had a few drinks. Much better than going out in the cold and wet & getting crushed in a sticky & sweaty club. The next day we ate as much junk food as possible. Mcdonalds for Lunch & Dominos for dinner, would have been rude not to. Of course we also watched Hocus Pocus and took a nap like the adults we are.

I can take no credit for this look at all as I got too angry when I couldn't get my lips right so my amazing friend saved me & took over, transforming me into this. What do you think?

What did you dress up as?

Wheelchair Freedom

28 October 2014

I've seen a few tweets from people who are struggling to come to terms with needing to use a wheelchair plus some of my Drs seem to think a wheelchair was the end of my life but they couldn't have been more wrong.

So I thought I'd write a post about all the ways using my wheelchair has made my life easier and allowed me to do things I wouldn't normally be able to do as well as some plus points

I am actually wearing shorts.

1. I can go shopping and go around more than one shop without feeling like my body is going to crumble (well at least not until after a few more shops)

2. I can spend all day going around the zoo without spending more time focusing on how much pain I'm in & how exhausted I am instead of how adorable all the animals are.

3. I could go to South West Live and spend all day listening to amazing bands.

4. I don't have to carry my bag, my chair does it for me. So kind

5. I always have a seat with me plus it has a super comfy cushion. Praise the memory foam gods

6. I could go on holiday with my friends. So far we have been to Berlin and Nice and we are planning on going somewhere new next summer.

Willy the wheelchair having a break in Cannes

7. I can actually go out and leave the house on days where I struggle to even get out of bed because I can just sit back & enjoy the view whilst someone else does all the hard work.

8. I can wear super high heels and not have to worry about sore feet or I can wear no shoes at all which is great for not getting tan lines.

9. I can go out wrapped in a blanket when its too cold and not be judged, also great for telling people you are actually a mermaid.

10. I can do so much more with my chair as I don't have to worry about as much payback, I mean obviously I still get it (there's no avoiding it) but not as much as if I try and walk.

11. Less injuries, well kinda. I still manage to injure myself sat in a wheelchair but there are significantly less injuries.

12. It allowed me to finish my A levels when I was in the worlds biggest flare up, without it I would never have got into uni.

13. It gave me my life back. I never went anywhere because I was always in too much pain or worried about how far I could get before the pain left me stranded. My wheelchair gave me the freedom to love my life.

I know it's hard to accept that you are more ill than you thought. I was 15 when I had to start using a chair and I refused to use it a lot of the time. I didn't want to be different, I was stubborn and was convinced I didn't need it. I wish I had accepted it sooner because I caused myself so much unnecessary pain. Plus being different is awesome and you can give your chair a cool name.

Would love to hear what accepting that you need a wheelchair allowed you to do

Film// Thanks for Sharing

27 October 2014

I'm still not sure how I feel about this film. I think I liked it, I'm gonna go with I liked it. It wasn't the best film I've seen but it wasn't the worst.

The story follows a group of people struggling with sex addiction including Mark Ruffalo, Josh Gad (who played Olaf in case you were wondering) and Pink. It shows the challenges and confusions of trying to have a relationship whilst struggling with an addiction and how an addiction takes over your life. Adam (Mark) reaches his 5 year sober mark and then he meets Phoebe (Gwyneth Paltrow) who doesn't date addicts. Neil (Josh) is a new comer to the addiction group but struggles to take it seriously until he reaches breaking point.

It was quite nice to see a film about addiction that looked at addictions other than the usual and showed the ups and downs. I'm going to be honest, I only watched this film for Pink and she wasn't in it as much as I would have liked but she was still awesome and her and Neil (Josh) have a great relationship throughout the film which shows what true friendship is. There was quite a few laughs and Josh shows what I would probably look like if I had to ride a bike. Gwyneth Paltrow gets out her amazing body which made me slightly jealous and kinda want to put down the biscuits I was munching on. Also little warning, there is a lot of masturbation and a few awkward sex scenes going on so maybe avoid watching with your parents.

I'm not sure I would watch this again, but it was okay for distracting me from the fact that I couldn't sleep and it was quite heart warming plus Pink & Josh were awesome.

Have you seen it, what did you think?

Film|| Brick Mansions

22 October 2014

Source
Now first things first, Man  I want to be able to able to get around buildings as quick and looking as awesome as David Belle. He's the founder of Parkour which obviously helps but it's not fair. I can't even walk on flat ground without tripping over air and injuring myself and he can jump off a roof and not die. I mean c'mon share some of your magic ability.

Anyways moving on. I loved this film and not just because it has Paul Walker and a magic flying David Belle in. Some action films have a tendency to have a poor story line and just involve a lot of pointless violence and explosions (everyone loves a dramatic explosion). Now I'm not saying there was no violence or explosions but there was also a very good storyline.

Brick mansions is basically a town full of criminals and poor families which the city built a wall around to keep the crime in. Paul Walker played Damien an undercover cop (surprise surprise) and ends up joining with David Belle (Lino) to save Brick Mansions, Lino's girlfriend and not let the bad guys win. All of this obviously involves lots of jumping off buildings and through shut windows looking all cool and attractive.

For the guys and girls not interested in how hot they looked running around, this film also involves car chases, guns, drugs and two hot girls having a fight with chains and thigh locks. RZA plays the bad guy and he has to be my favourite villain that I've seen in a while. I mean c'mon he has a gold gun and he cooks.

There is a plot twist at the end which I really should have seen coming and I was disappointed in myself for not working it out sooner but it makes the film even better.

Let me know what you thought of this film?

Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Colour

20 October 2014

I've seen this colour on a few blogs and when I saw a 3 for 2 deal on maybelline products it just magically appeared in my hand. I in no way need any more nail polishes and I have quite a few light blues but I just couldn't resist this gorgeous colour. Once I bought it I kept asking myself if I really needed it and never actually got round to using it but now I am so in love.

The brush is one of the wider flat brushes which makes application so much quicker, easier and smoother. Its pretty much opaque in one coat I just did 2 to make doubly sure and it is such a gorgeous shiny colour and it totally matches my ring. The lasting power of this is pretty epic. I  had this on for 5 days and when I took it off to change colours I only had it chip on my pesky nail where the actual nail flakes so can't blame the polish. This is coming from someone who chips their nails within an hour of painting them so I am super impressed.

I love the Barry M Gelly range but I wasn't a fan of the Models Own HyperGel so I wanted to see how it compared. It is definitely up there with Barry M, actually think it beats it in staying power, although Barry M wins on price. However these are still only £4.49 and there's a huge choice.

I will definitely be getting some more colours to add to my maybe too large collection.

Which are your favourite colours?

Books|| Karin Slaughter Criminal & Unseen

17 October 2014

Criminal
"The past will always find you...
A woman is found brutally murdered in a sordid Atlanta apartment.
Her blood-soaked body bears a startling similarity to a woman found dead almost 40 years earlier.
Soon Special Agent Will Trent finds himself returning to the home he grew up in. And a past that could hold the clue to the killings …"

I love Karin Slaughter and I have read the whole series before now & I cried when a certain someone died and I'm not sure I'll ever get over it. I love the characters in these books and you go through the emotions with them.

This book wasn't one of my favourites of hers because it kept switching between past & present and every time I got my head around which time we were in it switched again but that could have just been my brain fog. Once you can get past that its great because it gives so much back story for a couple of the characters which explains so much about who they are as a person. It also shows how different policing was back in the 70s.

The murders are pretty brutal and Karin Slaughters books are never for the squeamish but it was so gripping I struggled to put it down as usual. It keeps you hooked until the last page.

Unseen
"Special Agent Will Trent has something to hide.
Something he doesn’t want Dr Sara Linton – the woman he loves – to find out.
He’s gone undercover in Macon, Georgia and put his life at risk. And he knows Sara will never forgive him if she discovers the truth.
But when a young Macon patrolman is shot and left for dead Sara is forced to confront the past and a woman she hoped never to see again. And without even knowing it, she becomes involved in the same case Will is working on.
Soon both of their lives are in danger"

I think I preferred this one to Criminal as it had more of Sara in. It also has an old character in who I have mixed emotions about. I want to feel sorry for her but I also dislike her and my feelings towards her switched with every chapter. There is a lot of heartache and more of the past is bought up and you see the characters grow. It's a pretty tense book with Will being undercover and constantly finding more danger to put himself in. There aren't as many gruesome murders in this book as it's more about the character relationships and the mission and there's a plot twist towards the end that I did not see coming. Don't start this if you're busy because you won't get anything done.

Have you read any of the series?

Trying to Love Autumn

15 October 2014

Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate autumn. I mean I love it a hell of a lot more than winter but my body was just not made for this weather. I am definitely a sun worshipper. I need the heat, my body needs it, We were made for each other.

With the weather suddenly turning colder my body has gone crazy and my joints are constantly freaking out. I'm shuffling around like a 90 year old more than ususal and in so much more pain now than I was in the summer. I mean I'm not pain free and cured in the heat but I am 10x worse in the cold and my Raynaud's flares up and my hands & feet are beyond cold & painful.

Anyway that' not the point of this post. I decided to write a post about the good things about autumn to look on the bright side and distract myself from the bad.

At least the sea is still awesome even if its too cold to swim in.

1. I can drink hot drinks without my body over heating. I can drink them all the time if I want to (I do) and GINGER BREAD LATTES (Sorry but its just so exciting)

2. I can wear my onesies, fluffy socks or giant hoodies and be all cosy.

3. I can hibernate in my billions of blankets and pillows and be part of a beautiful blanket burrito.

4. Darker nail varnish and lipstick. I can wear black nail varnish all the time and berry lipsticks and I am so in love with my new lipstick I am going to wear it all the time & you cant stop me.

5. Darker evenings means more time snuggled up with a hot chocolate and my very large DVD collection

6. HALLOWEEN - Need I say more. Gonna dress up with my flatmates and look awesome and spend the rest of october watching hocus pocus, casper, and horror films.

7. It is quite pretty with all the leaves turning orange and falling off the trees - We'll just skip past how slippy they can be and how much I nearly fall and die. And the sea is still a magical place to be. It may even be more awesome in the cold minus the fact its too cold to swim.

8. Food is pretty awesome when it gets cold. Everything is so filling and usually comes with gravy and who doesn't love gravy?

9. Beanie hats. This is definitely one of my favourite parts. I am known to be lazy with my hair (washing & brushing) and you don't have to do either of these if you can wear an awesome looking hat all the time and I have a lot of them

10. Fires and candles. We have an open fire at home and it's always so lovely to sit in front of with the candles lit. Also bonfires and toasting marshmallows.

Well that was a tad harder than expected. I just love summer but gingerbread lattes, beanies and awesome lipstick next to a bonfire kinda make up for it.

What are your favourite things about Autumn please let me know to try and make me more excited?
Are you a summer or winter kind a person?

Kiss Light Reflecting Primer

14 October 2014

I picked up this Kiss Light Reflecting Primer on a whim when I went into Wilkinsons for some face wash and spent a fortune on a billion other things. That shop is lethal.

I mainly picked this up because of the packaging and the fact that it was only £4 for 30ml. I admit, I'm a sucker for cute packaging, but I'm so glad I did. I always used to be pretty lazy with primer & then I just used the Nivea express hydration primer to sort out my patchy dry skin before foundation but this Kiss one has taken over and is used daily.

I cannot begin to tell you how soft this makes my skin feel. I just want to stroke my cheek constantly but I resist because that would be weird. It makes applying foundation a dream and my makeup stays put all day. It even smells nice which is awesome because primer always smells a lil bit like plastic.

It contains the antioxidant vitamin E, Apricot oil and Baobab oil to moisturise & soften skin and Silica spheres to reduce the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles by diffusing light aaannndd All of this comes in cute pink packaging, what more could you ask for?

I really want to try some more of this range which includes face wash, a lip scrub, mascara, moisturiser and so much more and its all so cute and such a bargain.

Have you tried this primer or anything else from the range?
