Shit I Probably Didn't Need

26 March 2015

I went to Chester with a friend a few weeks ago in an attempt to distract us from the massive amounts of work we have. Retail therapy always helps. Well that and cake which we also happened to partake in. As I don't have a Primark where I live and there isn't one where I'm at uni I only get to go about once a year. So we always make it worth it. 2 hours later we emerged slightly dehydrated & sweaty (Why are their shops always so warm?) weighed down by a few bags. So here's what I treated myself to.

Minion & Olaf Trackies - £10 Each

As I only have one lecture a week at the moment but tons of work to do I spend most of my life in comfy clothes in the flat so these cute additions were a must. However my brother stole the minion ones as soon as I got home and he saw them *cries*

Shorts - £3 each

Another must for the comfy attire. I am a very warm person, Im always too hot and tends to be super hot because someone likes to turn on all the heaters and then go out so shorts are always needed. These are so comfy and for £3 I wish I had picked up more. I have practically lived in them this week because our house is practically a sauna
 Black & Blue Kimono - £8

I am a huge fan of the Kimono trend which seems to still be going strong from last year. As soon as I saw this one I had to have it. I love the colours and I don't yet have one with tassels. Also I was too warm in the hoodie I had worn out so needed something lighter to change in to which made it a necessary purchase

Despicable me pyjamas - £7

Yet more comfy clothes. I would say 90% of the clothes I own are pyjamas. I have the pjs that are just minions but they are too big and fall down all the time so I had to have these plus Unicorns I love them.
Small Grey Bag - £6

This bag is so small so should be good for when I need a bag but only for essentials like phone money and lipstick (definitely vital). All my bags are too big. Plus I am obsessed with all things grey at the moment

Pastel Clutch - £6

I'm loving pastels at the moment. I don't know whats wrong with me. Im  normally not a fan. Managed to justify this to my dad so he didnt lecture me about buying more bags (I may have a problem). When Im using my wheelchair I have no where for my bags except on my lap which is a tad annoying but I thought with a clutch it will fit down the side of me. Plus its pretty. Another necessary purchase I believe

Cosmetics bag - £4

This purchase I cannot justify. I do not need another cosmetics bag but I couldnt put it down. It just fell into my basket. However it is the perfect size for my toiletries when going away so it has a purpose.

False Nails £1 each

I'm loving false nails at the moment and with these only being a pound I couldnt really say no

Sunglasses Back pairs £1 each, front pair £2

Okay I admit it I have a massive addiction to sunglasses. I just cant resist them. Its my weakness. I already own like a billion pairs. Buuut in my defense the pink ones match my hair so I had to buy them and the mint ones go really well with my hair so another must. I never normally buy brown lenses but I'm having an issue with my eyes & my optician suggested I tried them to see if they helped with pain from lights so they were a medical necessity. Drs orders and all that

Superdrug

Superdrug is a store I should never go in. Ever. I always spend too much. Their deals just suck me in. Barry M had a 2 for £6 and I am on a mission to own all the Gellys so I picked up Blueberry and I got sucked in by the glitter of Glitterati V.I.P. Bourjois also had a buy one get second half price offer so I picked up the new colourband shadow crayon in Beige minimal and the Rouge Obscur nail polish

MAC All Fired Up & Velvet Teddy

I only recently got my first MAC lipstick and I'm slowly building up my collection. I'm obsessed with nude lips at the moment which is weird because I'm normally a brighter the better kinda girl but I had to get the most talked about nude Velvet Teddy. I then fell in love with All fired up and once again it matched my hair so I had to have it.

What have you guys been buying recently?

Bobble Bottle

23 March 2015

I drink a lot of water. I'm pretty sure I actually drink an abnormal amount of water but I've been tested for diabetes and thyroid issues and get tested for them every 6 months just in case but for now I just get to be thirsty a lot.

At home this isn't an issue. We live in the middle of no where in a small village in Mid Wales and our water comes straight from the local reservoir and it is delicious especially in winter when it is Ice cold. The problem came when I got to uni and found that the water in Bangor isn't great which actually surprised me. It's just chalky and tastes weird. So for someone who is always thirsty this wasn't ideal. I started drinking a lot of squash and spending a fortune on bottled water.

Then for Christmas Santa got me the Bobble bottle. It's a reusable bottle that is BPA free, and free of Pthalates and PVC. It also has a filter which filters out chlorine from tap water making it taste better.

Now I wasn't expecting much as the water in Bangor does taste pretty grim but oh my gosh it actually works. This is the only way I now drink water. The only thing I drink at uni now is hot drinks (obvs) and water (oh and the occasional alcoholic beverage *winky face*). When I drink out of this it makes the water in uni taste just as good as the water at home. How? Magic is the only logical answer.

Obviously they are a bit pricey with the 550ml bottles being £8 in supermarkets and the 1l bottles being £10. You also have to change the filter every 150 litres I think and they tend to be about £4-5. But when I take into consideration how many bottles of water I was buying and throwing away this definitely works out better. Plus the fact that I can drink the tap water here in uni makes it worth it.

Have you tried Bobble bottles?

New Disney Additions

16 March 2015

I missed out on the MAC Cinderella collection online which I'm still not sure if I'm upset about. The only thing I was tempted by was the Royal Ball lipstick and I'm just not sure it would suit me.

But obviously I have still been shopping and have a few new Disney additions. Also one of my friends bought me the super adorable stitch teddy as a late Christmas present and he's so cute.

And here is what I have treated myself to

So first of all, as you may have seen, selected Disney DVDs are buy one get one free in Tesco, Amazon etc. I usually buy mine second hand but with this deal it worked out cheaper for a couple of them so I treated myself to Dumbo & Brave as I also had a money off voucher for Tesco so bargain. I also ordered Atlantis from amazon because I really wanted to watch it and my copy was damaged when I lent it to someone - never again.

Ariel Mug

When I saw the new range of disney princess mugs in the disney store I had to have one. Last time there was a mug I liked I resisted and then it went out of stock and I still mourn the loss of it. It was hard bringing myself to pay £7 for a mug but it has such a good handle for my crappy hands and it's so pretty and I wasn't going to lose this one like the last one. I chose Ariel and it makes me smile every day.

Cinderella Compact Mirror

Last but not least I picked up the Cinderella compact mirror. Now this has had mixed reactions with my family. My mum and my brother hate it but my Dad loves it. Can always count on my Dad to back me up. I think it's really pretty and I desperately needed a new compact. It's nice and sturdy and opens when you push the button so my crappy hands can cope.

Anyone get any of the DVDs with the offer?

Best Things About Going Home From Uni

12 March 2015

After 4 years at uni Coming home is still always a bit weird. You feel like a guest in what was once you're own home but once you get past that there are so many plus points. I mean having views like this just down the rode definitely helps but here's a list of all the great things.

1. You can use as much soap, toilet roll, toothpaste etc as you like without having to pay or worry about running out because mums always have a back up. I think its a mum thing

2. The cupboards actually have food in them. Like real life nutritious food that isn't growing it's own garden

3. If like me you don't have a TV license you can finally catch up on daytime TV and find out what's being advertised these days

4. You have someone who will cook real meals for you

5. You don't have to save all your change to do your laundry and you don't have to wait until you run out of underwear and then lug it all across campus to the laundrette and if you're lucky someone else even does it for you. Plus my mums washing powder smells way nicer than the cheap one I have

6. If like me your flatmates are gross you can go home to a kitchen that isn't sticky with a sink piled high with washing up and a plug blocked with food. No seriously there is more food in one of our sinks then in the fridge sometimes.

7. Only your brother steals your food and you can get back at him quite easily

8. You don't get woken up in the early hours by drunken arguments outside your room and your weird flatmates, who usually don't talk, singing Love is an Open door

9. The internet actually works at a decent speed because there isn't a billion students trying to procrastinate on Netflix

10. You can go back to pretending you're not an adult and let your mum/dad look after you.

Also I have a double bed at home so get to starfish all night and my mum is pretty good at usually having a bottle of wine in the fridge. It's beautiful.

What do you love about going home?

Watched in February

5 March 2015

I watch a lot of films/ TV series. My DVD collection is huge and continuously growing and Netflix is my best friend so I thought I'd start doing a monthly what I've been watching and hope it isn't too long.

The Walking Dead

I finally attempted to get up to date with this and have binge watched the end of series 3 and all of series 4 in 2 days with my brother. It was great we only moved to pee and get food. I kinda fell out of love with it a bit which is why I got so behind but after my marathon I am obsessed again. Although Rick and Carl have to be my least favourite, can they just be eaten already?

The Vampire Diaries

When I saw that series 5 was on Netflix I thought it was about time I caught up with this too as I only actually had 3 episodes left to watch. I got a bit bored with this as well because it seemed to get more weird every episode but Damon was just too gorgeous to stay away from. It has everything from vampires, werewolves, vampire-werewolf hybrids, witches, travellers, love, hate, love triangles, gorgeous people and there is always something dramatic happening. Oh my god I cried so bad at the end. Why would they do that to me.

Criminal Minds

Probably one of my favourite TV shows. I love a good crime show and this is one of the best. It follows a group of FBI profilers that try and discover what type of person commits the crimes and what they are thinking in order to catch them. They are all such an amazing group of people with great chemistry. I've watched random episodes now & then but I've decided to start from the beginning. Also Derek Morgan is just soo damn nice to look at.

Lilo & Stitch, Lilo & Stich 2, Stitch the Movie & Leroy & Stitch

I had a few nights of bad pain and needed something to distract me but nothing that I had to concentrate too hard on. So obviously my bae Disney came to the rescue. I absolutely adore Lilo & Stitch (even have a soft toy of stitch which is adorable) so thought I'd watch the sequels. My expectations were low because sequels are never great (Except Shrek, How to train your dragon). I actually loved the 2nd one though and even shed a few tears. Why do I cry so much? The other two weren't as good but I still enjoyed them and they were perfect for my pain distraction needs. I don't think anything with the adorableness that is stictch can be bad.

In the second one stitch is good but then he starts glitching and turning bad and Jumba has to try and build a weird machine thing to fix him. Lilo doesn't realise he's glitching and just thinks he's turned bad again. It's all very dramatic.

Stitch the movie - Gantu comes to kidnap the scientist Jumba to find out where the other 625 experiments are. Lilo & stitch help save the day.

Leroy & Stitch - An evil hamster creates an experiment that looks just like stitch and is sent to earth to destroy everything. Stitch is kidnapped along with the other 625 experiments and lilo once again has to save the day. She's a pretty badass girl.

Beauty & the Beast

I needed something on in the background whilst I worked and Disney is always my go to for most film needs. I really need a cup like Chip. How adorable is he.

Rock of Ages

I mainly watch this film for the Alec Baldwin - Russell Brand duet & relationship also the soundtrack is pretty damn good. I love this film, my brother hates it. He sighs every time they burst into song which is hilarious because he's always singing at random times. Living with him is like living in a terrible musical. Anyway if you like musicals and rock then this is the film for you. Tom Cruise is a creepy rockstar who likes it when a girl licks him. Catherine Zeta Jones is a posh women against the sin of rock music and has a sing off with Russell brand and its all pretty magical. It follows the story of 2 kids who wanna make it as rockstars, a spiralling rockstar who wants to go solo, rock club owners who are broke and a womens group that want to close the club.

Burlesque

Hands down one of my favourite films minus how damn gorgeous all the girls are and how jealous I am of their bodies and dancing abilities. Ali (Christina) moves to L.A to make a singing career and ends up as a waitress in a burlesque lounge longing to get on stage. Then there's the main girl who doesn't want any new talent that may be better than her. The soundtrack to this film is amazing and Christina is perfect for this role. Also Cher and Stanley Tucci make this film. Plus for any Grey's fans Eric Dane or Mark Sloan makes a gorgeous appearance.

Dirty Dancing

What a classic. Nobody put's baby in the corner and all that. Haven't seen this film for ages. I forgot how much I loved it although watching all that dancing did makes my hips ache.

What have you been watching?

Books// Sacrifice by Paul Finch

3 March 2015

Why do I always get motivation to blog at weird times. I should probably be attempting sleep or doing uni work but this is more fun plus I haven't posted for a few days.

I posted a review a while ago on the first Detective Mark Heckenberg thriller called Stalkers which was an amazing read and I instantly ordered the next books in the series. Then uni work got in the way and then my mum & dad stole them to read so I've only just got around to reading the 2nd in the series but it was worth the wait. Plus it meant my mum got so into them that she then bought the next 2 books in the series. Win

Kindle or Paperback

"A vicious serial killer is holding the country to ransom, publicly - and gruesomely - murdering his victims.

When a man is burnt alive on a bonfire, it seems like a tragic Guy Fawkes Night accident. But with the discovery of a young couple on Valentine’s Day – each with an arrow through the heart – something more sinister becomes clear. A ‘calendar killer’ is on the loose.
Detective Mark ‘Heck’ Heckenburg is up against it. With a rising body count and the public’s eyes on him, Heck must find the killer before he executes more victims.
Because this killer has a plan. And nothing will stop him completing it."

I have to hand it to Paul he is amazing at producing bone chilling books. This is not a book for the faint hearted. The crimes are a tad disturbing but I just couldn't put this book down. I was kept on edge throughout the whole book and considering how the last one ended I was seriously concerned for one of the characters.
The plot follows a killer who murders his victims in various gruesome ways and then displays them publicly and all this happens on various special days of the year like bonfire night & valentines day. It takes a while for the police to notice a link and soon the body counts starts to add up.
Heck has to be one of my favourite detectives out of the many crime thrillers I have read. I also love the relationship he has with Gemma, who is seriously badass by the way.
If my Dad hasn't stolen the next book I'm going to start that soon but the Dissesrtation is getting in the way of fun so I'll chuck a review up when I finally get through it. As I said in my first review this is definitely a series for all you crime thriller lovers out there.

Have you read any of Paul Finch's books?
What is your favourite crime thriller?
