Book Review// No Way Back by Kelly Florentia

22 September 2017

This isn't the usual type of book I would reach for. I'm a crime thriller girl usually but when asked if I wanted to review this I thought I'd go for a change especially as I've been pretty bored with what I've read recently. No Way Back* is a tale of one woman's search for love - and failing that at least some honesty and support from those around her.

"When two eligible and attractive men are vying for your heart, it should be the perfect dilemma...

Audrey Fox has been dumped by her unreliable fiance Nick Byrne just days before the wedding. Heartbroken and confused, the last thing she expects when she jumps on a plane to convalesce in Cyprus is romance. But a chance meeting with handsome entrepreneur and father-of-one Daniel Taylor weaves her into a dating game she's not sure she's ready for.

Audrey's life is thrown into further turmoil when she discovers on her return to London that Nick has been involved in a serious motorcycle accident that's left him in intensive  are.

Distraught yet determined to look to the future, Audrey must make a decision - follow her heart or listen to well meaning advice from family and friends? Because sometimes, no matter what, it's the people that we love who can hurt us the most..."

First of all can we talk about how simple yet eye catching this cover is. I love the red against the grey scale. It just looks so good.

This was definitely an easy read and was a nice change from some of my more complicated story lines. There was just enough characters to keep it interesting but not so many that I couldn't keep up with who was who.

I hated the fact that there were a couple of times when the main character talks about suicide in a flippant way saying that she's not crazy enough or how that's the cowards way out. It's such a shitty way to talk about such a serious thing. I did struggle to find Audrey likeable and I think this might have been one of the reasons why. She also doesn't seem to like anyone and is quite judgemental. That being said all the characters are well written and their lives are so easy to picture.

The story line did keep me intrigued though as I wanted to know why Nick had left her just before their wedding and who she was going to choose in the end. Would Nick win her back or would she fall for the new guy? I was kind of routing for Nick. You get to experience the highs and lows of Audreys love life as well as trying to work out who she can trust and which friendships should survive.

The ending was definitely not what I was expecting. I was expecting some kind of twist but not that. It was quite a dramatic soap opera ending and it's been left open for a sequel which I will probably have to read because I need to know everything. It also made me thankful that my life is not that dramatic.
